Pre-pelican stuff

I've been making a lot of lists lately...not much else yet but lists will hopefully lead to more.

My dear friend R is making me a cloak for the ceremony. She's an amazing embroiderer and this will be a wonderful way to show what she can do. I'm so excited about it.
She wanted me to look at pictures of pelicans and decide what I wanted the design to look like. After looking at a few, I made a few conclusions right off. I prefer to have a face on view of the bird on it's nest with the young in front. I also like the wings raised like this:

this is a lovely heraldic design that I really like but the more I looked, the more I found others that I liked even more:

And then I ran across one that I like the best:

She hasn't replied since I sent her these...I'm hoping that she likes them and gets a good idea of what I'd like on there. I need to make a date to go find the fabric with her. A nice, light weight wool would be perfect.

Blog the first

I've started a new blog here as I have a few friends that seem to enjoy posting here. I'm a regular LiveJournal user so hopefully I can eventually figure out how to link the two together. I don't know how often I'll be posting here but I hope to use this as a log of specific projects that I make.
